The Gender Equality Fellowship Program is a 10-month program for youth to train them in reporting local stories on the Hinsa Ko No project that promotes SDG 5 and aims to work towards gender equality via community radios. It will provide an opportunity to create gender-sensitive reporters at the community level, who can highlight stories on the socio-cultural context within the gender space.

Following the recruitment of fellows through community radio stations and the SMART team with full transparency, the cohort travels to Delhi for an orientation and capacity-building workshop. During this workshop, we invite experts in gender and inclusion, local and hyper-local media, and reporting to provide field exposure and gender sensitization

The SMART team presents the action plan for the 10-month fellowship tenure and discusses evaluation methods during the workshop. Both the orientation and field visits help the cohort understand the subject matter and their roles as Gender Equality Fellows.

Monthly reporting allows the SMART team, community radio stations, and fellows to track progress in rapport building, gender sensitization, writing skills, report writing, radio station technicalities, scriptwriting, and recording. A mid-workshop virtual expert session offers further insights into the fellows' writing styles. Each month, fellows submit case stories from their field experiences.
